Kourtney is a black and Mexican queer woman who was born and raised in Las Vegas and moved to Portland in 2021. She joined Portland State University’s MSW program where she is currently finishing her final year. Her relevant experience includes working on an ACT team at Telecare Corporation where she focused on housing and crisis work. Kourtney is also currently working as an admissions coordinator at an subacute behavioral health facility.
Kourtney is excited to shift her focus from individual work in the behavior health field to building community and relationships. Some of her passions include fashion and creative expression through hair and clothing, reading fantasy books, spending time with friends and building community through shared culinary experiences. Kourtney is a very relational person who prioritizes community care. In her work with The Uprise Collective, she is eager to build skills to advance liberation for communities with particular focus on civic engagement and disability justice.
