As February begins Black History Month, we at UPRISE want to take a moment to pause and recognize our Black ancestors who paved the way for us to be where we are today. We also want to acknowledge the Black joy and resilience that continues to build and sustain our communities. Take time this month and on the regular to support Black artists, writers, musicians and education.

Black history is being written every day and western culture not only benefits from Black fculture it thrives from the contributions of our Black relatives. Decolonizing work includes confronting and dismantling anti-Blackness in BIPOC community. And if your first thought is that there is no anti-Blackness in my community, you have extra home work to do to before dismantling can happen.
